Hindrances to Healing
Our bodies are designed to heal, but sometimes once we uncover what is truly keeping us sick, we experience new symptoms that can throw us off or discourage us from continuing on the current path. By understanding common hindrances to healing like poor drainage, toxins, parasites and pathogens, we have a better understanding of the big picture and a renewed zeal for maintaining a healthy terrain.
Two steps forward, are we taking a step back?
I recently shared in my masterclass, The Healing Shift, about my journey with chronic eczema on my hands. I thought that it was especially important to note that of all the symptoms that I’ve dealt with over the years, this was not one that I grew up with like the migraines, hormone imbalances, or gut issues. This particular problem did not show up until after I was diagnosed with a leaky gut and Candida and began cleaning up my diet and using targeted supplements to help with my gut and hormones. But why?
Foundational Medicine: If the fish is sick, change the water
If we are going to embrace the Foundational Medicine model, understanding this concept of terrain is vitally important. I want to introduce you to a new term that helps this whole theory come to life: pleomorphism. Once this concept makes sense to you, you’ll never look at the human body the same way again.
My Approach to Wellness
It doesn’t have to be complicated. I’ve spent many years studying the complicated and nuanced science of nutrition and the body to be able to tell you, it actually can be pretty simple. Here at Storied Wellness Co. we believe your body was designed with the innate capacity to heal itself when we remove the things that keep us sick and give it more of the things it needs to function optimally.
Why Foundational Medicine?
Functional medicine was the catalyst that opened my eyes to an entire world outside of allopathic medicine. As a fourth generation registered nurse, the lightbulb for me came after allopathic medicine had failed to help me find any sort of relief from chronic daily migraines. Functional medicine and nutrition shifted so much for me, but foundational medicine completely changed the game.
From Belly to Burnout: Understanding How Gut Health Impacts Adrenal Fatigue
The bidirectional relationship between an impaired gut and adrenal fatigue is a complex interplay that involves multiple pathways. As one condition worsens, it can perpetuate a cycle of stress and further compromise the other. Recognizing and addressing both gut health and adrenal health is essential for achieving overall well-being and balance in the body's stress response.
Adaptogens: Nature's Support System for Healthy Adrenals
In today's fast-paced world, stress has become an almost unavoidable part of our daily lives. Whether it's work-related pressure, personal challenges, or simply the demands of modern living, our bodies are frequently exposed to stressors.
This constant stress can take a toll on our adrenal glands, leading to a condition known as adrenal fatigue or adrenal stress. However, nature provides us with powerful allies in the form of adaptogenic herbs to help us combat the negative effects of stress and support adrenal health.
